Obituary of John `Jack` Franklin Maracle

Of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territories, Shannonville Veteran- Paratrooper WWII Retired from the Canadian National Railway Peacefully at the Golden Plough Lodge in Cobourg on March 11, 2011 in his 86th year. John was the dear son of the late James Franklin and Mary Ellen Maracle. In 1955 he married Beatrice Wilma (Toots) and they had 5 children, Sylvia, John , Elizabeth, Mary, and Colleen, who will miss him greatly. He had two daughter-in-laws Susanne and Trish and two son-in-laws Abraham and Chester. In 1961 Beatrice passed away and in 1967 Jack remarried to Ivy Mandelean Argent (Deceased). He then became father to Ronald, Robert and Nancy and father-in-law to Jane, Patty and Todd. John was treasured by his grandchildren Jeremy, Bradley, Lisa, Erin and James Davis; Jordan Deer; Sean Argent; Laurie Monks, Cassie Orford, Jillian, Jacob and Gabriel Maracle, Kaniietosta and Watahowii Barton and Susie, Steven, Timmy, Becky Argent and great grandchildren Ruby Davis, Sage, Hawk and Tristan Lazore, Nicky Davis and Alivia Deer, Cole Argent and Marlie and Willum Anderson. He will never by forgotten by his Sisters and Brothers Jenny Gregg, Aida Kring, Joyce McIntee, Robert Maracle and Laverne Maracle. Predeceased by his sister Iona Loft and his brothers William Maracle and Joseph Maracle. Jack will be remembered for his fondness of animals and the many feral cats he fed regularly. He loved to laugh. He will also be remembered for his kind and loving disposition. An old fashioned and true gentleman. Family and Friends will be received at McGlade Funeral Home, on Sunday, March 13, 2011between the hours of 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 in All Saints Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the All Saints Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association in memory of Jack.
