Peacefully passed away with his daughter Bernice by his side at the Friendly Manor Nursing Home on Monday, May 25, 2020 in his 96th year. Husband of Mary Taylor for 18 years and the late Germaine Root (deceased 1992). Son of the late William and Myrtle Root. Cherished dad of Vivian (John) Kershaw, Bernice (Phil) Kerr and daughter-in-law Joyce Root. Predeceased by his son Douglas. Treasured grandpa of Timothy, Elizabeth, Andrew, Michael, Robert, Peter, Stephen, Dana and many great grandchildren. Predeceased by his granddaughter Jacqueline. Dear brother of George Root and Mary Stafford. Predeceased by his brother Eric Root. Immediate Family will be received at Smith & Son Funeral Home for a private visitation and funeral service. Interment to take place in Deseronto Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Friendly Manor Nursing Home or the Lennox & Addington Hospital in memory of Cecil.
