My sincerest condolences to Brenda and all of Harry's family. I met Harry while I was a student living in Sci'44 Co-Op. Harry always had great stories to tell about his time as a chef and encouraged all of us students to take pride in the food we made for our peers in Co-Op (to this day I hear Harry saying to me "You eat with your eyes first" whenever I go to serve someone food). He served great food because he really cared about what he gave people to eat. This really reminded me of my grandmother and I think that's why Harry and I got along so well - he was like a piece of home for me while I was away at school. Every year, Harry would invite some students out to his house to cook nice food and I was so honoured when he invited me and another coop student out to his garage kitchen. We got to meet Brenda (who had kindly made some delicious berry muffins for us!) and we made an amazing lemon cheesecake and crème brûlée. He even let us borrow his kitchen torch so we could caramelize the top of the crème brûlées at home.
Harry made my time in Co-op special and I will always remember his kindness to me when I think back to my time in Kingston. May he rest in peace and may you and your family find comfort during this loss, Brenda. God bless you.
