I will treasure many fond memories of my uncle Eric. His love for fishing and hunting, playing the electric guitar, but most importantly, his love of family. It was family that brought him back "home" to Napanee. He must have had a sense that his life was going to be cut short. I am sure he was grateful for the love and support from family, especially Lawrence, as he struggled with his illness. My most precious memory took place 36 years ago this month. Mom passed away suddenly and I was going through a difficult time, knowing she would never see her unborn granddaughter. Just as the service was about to commence, Uncle Eric arrived, flying all the way from Calgary to attend the funeral. His name will live on in his grand-niece, who was named Erika Jean. Eric, I know you had many struggles in life, but you should be proud that you managed to overcome many of the obstacles. May you now rest in peace. I am sure you are sharing fishing stories with Jackie, Bert, Orval and Ivan, telling them about "the big one that got away".
