Elizabeth “Betty Jean” Brookes (Green)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our mom, Elizabeth (Betty Jean) Brookes on Friday December 22, 2023, at the age of 70. She will be dearly missed by her children Rebecca (Dale), Travis and Josh (Kayla). She was a treasured Nanny to Devynn, Cash, Oakley, Nellie, and Etta. Loving sister to Pat (Ric) Brinklow and Doug (Billie) Green. Predeceased by her parents Vernon and Marion Green. She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews.

Betty Jean was a respected educator at Quinte Mohawk School for 29 years. She supported, motivated, and inspired many students towards their learning journey throughout the years. Her love of teaching and learning was never ending. Into her retirement her love for giving and helping others carried on through her volunteer work with the Mohawk Guild.

Betty Jean enjoyed knitting, quilting, cross stitch, gardening, baking, watching figure skating, bird watching and was an avid dog lover. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and found joy in spending time with them.

Visitation and Services will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 1295 Ridge Road, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory on Sunday January 7, 2024. Visitation will be from 1:30pm to 2:30pm immediately followed by the Service at 2:30pm. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or The Mohawk Guild.
