Francis Xavier Maloney, in his 90th year, died at home following his journey with cancer. Beloved husband of Patricia Anne (Whalen), loving father of Anne Marie, Don (Kelly), Tom, and Kevin. Proud grandfather of Brendan (Jannel), Michael, Patrick, Hayley (Patrick Trudeau), Clare, Nolan, Shaye and great-grandfather of Luc, he is survived many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Margaret (McDonald), siblings Jean Brady, Mike (Muriel), Harold (Jean), Jimmy (Elaine), Teresa Gendron (Ed), Sr. Helen, Donald (Patricia), and Mary Mahoney (Rowan).
Born in Renfrew, he lived his first sixteen years on the family homestead in Mount St. Patrick. Frank instilled the love of his Irish ancestry in his family. He enjoyed returning to the Mountain with them to share his experiences.
Frank and his parents moved to Bath in 1954, where he farmed with his brother Harold. He enjoyed the comradery of a 47-year career as a stationary engineer in Kingston, where he worked at Liquid Fuels, Dupont, Alcan, Ault Foods, and CFB Kingston. He married the love of his life Patricia in 1965 and they raised their family on a farm outside of Napanee. 41 years later they retired from farming and relocated to Read.
In retirement he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and was recognized for his long-time volunteerism at Providence Manor. He was fun loving and generous in his support of; family, friends, neighbours and parish community. He loved the Leaf’s, the Jays, The Price is Right and The Young and the Restless. Above all he, cherished his Catholic faith and lived his life following the church’s teachings.
The family wishes to express our profound thanks to; The Kingston Region Cancer Centre, Dr. Kate Koester, the many homecare professionals who took exceptional care of dad and all those who brightened his day with visits.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday July 28 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at M.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 78 Centre St., Deseronto. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 29 at 11 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 7288 Old Hwy2, Marysville. Internment and reception to follow. Donations in Frank’s memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or the Church Building Fund of Marysville or Read Parishes.
