Obituary of Wayne Brant

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

“It is with deep sadness that the family of Wayne Brant announce his passing.  Wayne passed away on April 5, 2024 after a very sudden decline in health.  Wayne was only 72 years of age.

Wayne was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He was a loving husband to Linda for 52 wonderful years.  Wayne is survived by his sons Sean (Sally) and Aaron (Caroline).  He was a loving and caring grandfather, whose grandchildren meant the world to him, Lydia (Caitie), Isaac, Daniel, Julianna and Benjamin.  Wayne is also survived by his brothers Carl (Pam), Tim (Brenda), Ken (Suzanne), Myles and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother Neil (Jackie) and parents Elwood and Eileen.

Wayne was born January 26, 1952 on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.  Having been raised on the Territory, the property at the end of Norways road was proudly referred to as the ‘homestead’.  While attending high school in Belleville, a bright and ambitious sixteen year old Wayne first met a beautiful young local girl named Linda.  Hallway glances and smiles eventually led these two to the alter and a half century of togetherness.

With a young bride and a newborn son, Wayne successfully completed his diploma program from Loyalist College.  Employment opportunities in Ottawa had the young family relocate and put down roots.  Time in Ottawa would see the birth of his second son and a long career in computer programming.  The longstanding friendships forged with the core group that moved from Indigo and JetForm was so meaningful for Wayne.  However, through the years there was always a calling from the homestead.

Wayne would eventually return to Tyendinaga in 2012 where he and Linda would build their paradise on the Bay.  Wayne was always busy with his beloved property, so proud of his piece of the homestead.   No matter how much was on the go, he would always find time to sit on the porch and admire the beauty before him.  Golf was also a passion for Wayne;  to his friends at Briar, those early tee times, the memorable hole-in-one, and shared laughter, all meant so much to him.  So much love for the game, to his grandchildren he was the ‘Golfing Grampa’.  If you were willing to swing the club, he was ready to book a tee time.

Wayne will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of crossing his path.  Thank you to family and friends for your endless support and love.  Wayne loved every single one of you.

Think of Wayne and smile.  Remember his jokes and endless supply of laughter.  If you find yourself sitting at the dinner table a little longer than usual, smile, perhaps Wayne has pulled up a chair.
